New York State Paid Prenatal Leave Law

On January 1, 2025 New York became the first state in the nation to offer paid time off for prenatal care or any medical care related to pregnancy. Under this new policy, any privately employed New Yorker will be able to receive an additional 20 hours of paid sick leave for prenatal care in addition to their existing sick leave. Additional information regarding the New York State Paid Prenatal Leave Law can be found on the New York State web site https://www.ny.gov/programs/new-york-state-paid-prenatal-leave .

CHARTS has the ability to monitor how many Prenatal Care hours have been taken within a 52 week period (as allowed by law) and issue a warning when running a List Accumulated Work Hours report. To set this in motion in the User parameters payroll information screen, enter the main key of the hour defined as Prenatal Leave. When running a List Accumulated Work Hours report [PR, 2, 3] if Prenatal Hours will exceed 20 hours a message “PRENATAL HOURS USED EXCEEDED” is printed on the report.

EFTPS and NYS Depository Payments via Direct Deposit

The vast majority of payroll checks are being paid via direct deposit. CHARTS now has the ability to also make EFTPS and New York State payments for taxes withheld via electronic bank deposits. There is also an option available to automatically link to the Direct Deposit Taxes program after completing the weekly/biweekly standard direct deposit.

Registration with the EFTPS and New York State is required. RHS client services can assist you in the registration process and CHARTS table file set up process.

If your facility is located in a state that has an income tax, other that New York State, and you wish to send depository payments electronically directly to the state, please contact our client services department.
